For all of you Limewire users BEWARE! Arista Records has filed suits against Limewire users for downloading music illegally.   Shocked  Shocked The users were tracked down by their IP address.  The users are notified by certified letter from the ISP (Internet Service Provider) on behalf of the record company.  The record company is asking the users to either pay several hundred dollars per song, or show up in court.  The numbers are in the thousands.  One Woman local to the Greenville, SC area has to pay $4,000.   Cry  Cry The ISP was Charter Communications, and they have said that the IPS were pulled at random from Lime Wire and there will be more suits to come.  If you continue to download from Limewire beware!   For a video of the story:  http://www.wyff4.com/video/18198661/index.html

The unfortunate part is that the record labels get the most of the profit.  One day there will be a place where musicians will be able to take full advantage of the web to market themselves without having to give the majority of their profits away!
